Indian cuisine has always embraced a wide variety of ingredients - and that’s even more true today. The typical colours, smells and tastes of Indian food are now being used in health foods, beverages, nutraceuticals, snacks and ready meals. With its trillian dollar economy, 8% economic growth rate, billion-plus population and increasingly prosperous consumers, India is a market with enormous potential.

Food processing is growing by 20% a year in India. Rapidly developing urbanisation and more hectic lifestyles have led to a sharp increase in the demand for preservatives to sustain a longer shelf life. With more women in
the workforce, convenience foods are booming.
Healthier food choices are also of great interest in order to combat lifestyle-infl uenced conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. WWell educated, informed and articulate, the Indian consumers have changing tastes - including their food consumption.
