Doris Brothers, Ph.D., is a psychologist and psychoanalyst whose therapeutic work has been greatly influences by self psychology and intersubjectivity. She is a cofounder and supervising analyst at The Training and Research Institute for Self Psychology (TRISP) in New York City, and she serves on the board of advisors for The Institute for the Advancement of Self Psychology (IASP) in Toronto.

Her written contributions reflect her interest in trauma, gender, and most recently, uncertainty and faith. She is the author of Falling Backwards: An Exploration of Trust and Self Experience, and co-author with Richard Ulman of The Shattered Self: A Psychoanalytic Study of Trauma. She has written seven chapters in The Progress in Self Psychology series, two co-authored with Ellen Lewinberg. Her latest book, now in press, is entitled Toward a Psychology of Uncertainty: Traum-Centered Psychoanalysis. She has a private practice in New York City.
