4th Asia Aromatics & Derivatives Markets 2008
Apr 24, 2008 - Apr 25, 2008,
InterContinental Pudong Shanghai, Shanghai (munic.) China

The global aromatics industry has announced a number of new additions in production capacities and this unprecedented scenario for the aromatics industry is expected to drive operating rates significantly lower and impact industry profitability.

Jurong Aromatics Corporation Pte Ltd (JAC) announced that its US$2 billion petrochemical plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island will be completed in 2011, and the complex will produce around 1.5 million tonnes of aromatics, targeted as raw materials to textile and plastics manufacturers.

With a series of new petrochemicals projects by Shell, Exxonmobil, Reliance and as well as in China, this will only mean increasing demand for feedstock, thus further adding to the tightness.

High naphtha prices have hit almost all sectors of the petrochemicals market, and might have gradually eaten into the cracker production margins. The economics of naphtha and pygas-based benzene look seriously challenged both in the short and long terms. And it is also a questionable doubt if China will produce enough naphtha to operate all the petrochemical projects (existing and announced) when the priority is gasoline and diesel production.

Hence, this conference intends to bring some local or international good case studies and best practices that would help organisations in China to prevent, detect and resolve the problems. Besides, with clear understanding that whatever happens in another parts of the world does matter to China, the conference will also address issues related to new evolutions and trends of financial crime around the world.

The Third International Sympsium on Biomechanics in Vascular and Cardiovascular Disease
Apr 24, 2008 - Apr 25, 2008,
Hilton Hotel, Rotterdam, Zuid Holland Netherlands

Biomechanical factors play an important role in the cardiovascular system during vascular growth, adaptation and in vascular diseases. Developments in vascular imaging combined with computational techniques enable us to identify biomechanical parameters that play a role in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis. The second symposium on Biomechanics in Cadiovascular disease: shear stress in vascular Biology was held in Rotterdam in April, 2007.

The symposium aimed to bridge the gap between biomechanics, vascular biology and clinical research. Over 160 visitors from academia and industry from all over Europe and the USA visited the symposium. The reactions of the speakers and the visitors were very positive, indicating that a symposium of this kind fills an important gap. This year, the organizing committee decided to broaden the scope of symposium to include vessel wall mechanics, and we are happy to announce that the third international symposium on Biomechanics in Vascular Biology and Cardiovascular Disease will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Rotterdam on April 24th and 25th, 2008. The scientific program of the symposium covers several aspects of vascular biology related to biomechanics, including AAA, the vulnerable plaque, remodellling and angiogenesis, endothelial function and oxidative stress, and stroke. Sessions will feature two internationally renowned scientists, one with technical and the other with biological/clinical expertise.
