The fact that by 2010 more than 50% of the world‘s population will live or work in urban areas very clearly underlines the significance of intelligent and attractive public transport systems for sustainable mobility. This enormous challenge cannot be managed without the application of a modern information technology in products like contactless ticketing, real-time passenger information or vehicle location systems, to mention just a few of the many different high-tech developments of today.

The IT-TRANS in Karlsruhe is an ideal showcase and will become a worldwide acknowledged centre of the IT-industry for public transport. The specialist conference and trade fair on IT solutions for public transport has turned out to be an international information and communication platform for the industry.
